Royal Institute of British Architects visits Shenzhen
     2012-February-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Helen Deng

THE Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) tour, led by President Angela Brady, will visit Shenzhen on Feb. 29 to attend the Innovation in Architecture Seminar and Business Matching hosted by RIBA, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and China-Britain Business Council (CBBC).

Nine top British architects led by RIBA will present their work at the seminar, including TFP Farrells Limited, designer of Shenzhen King Key 100 and Guangzhou South Train Station, and Arup, who designed many landmarks in China.

The event aims to deepen understanding between British and Chinese architects, so they may benefit from learning about each other.

The seminar will highlight the innovative projects of visiting architects and explain how they are relevant to sustainable growth. The presentations will show new ways of thinking about architecture and sustainable technology can enhance the planning of cities which are vital to improving the quality of all society. One of the examples is to adopt new ideas, materials and technologies to save money and protect the environment.

“The RIBA is delighted to showcase the practices involved in this tour to China, who represent a selection of our quality architects. We look forward to a creative and stimulating visit to one of the world’s most dynamic economies and to the development of future partnerships with Chinese organizations,” says Brady.

Pre-arranged one-to-one business meetings will follow the seminar in the afternoon, when Chinese business people will have the opportunity to meet the U.K. architects and discuss potential collaborations.
