European culture festival opens in Foshan
     2012-May-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A WEEKLONG European culture festival kicked off Tuesday in the city of Foshan in Guangdong Province.

Speaking at the festival’s opening ceremony, Polish Ambassador to China Tadeusz Chomicki said he was happy to participate in the event.

He said there have been increasing exchanges between Europe and China, with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski’s December 2011 visit to China elevating bilateral relations.

The festival, the first of its kind, continues to May 21 and features a variety of activities including a European film festival, a Polish culture exhibition and a Chinese kung-fu performance.

The consulate generals of Poland and several other EU countries attended the opening ceremony.

Located some 20 kilometers from the provincial capital of Guangzhou, Foshan is the ancestral hometown of kung-fu star Bruce Lee.(Xinhua)
