Jolie attends Sarajevo Film Festival
Angelina Jolie, whose directorial debut tackled* the 1992-95 Bosnian war, attended the 18th Sarajevo Film Festival on July 7 and became an honorary* citizen of the Bosnian capital in recognition of her film.
Jolie’s film “In the Land of Blood and Honey” tells the story of the war through the relationship between Danijel, a Bosnian Serb, and Ajla, a Bosnian Muslim woman, whose affection becomes hostage* to their respective ethnic groups.
Actress Claire Danes is pregnant
Claire Danes has some busy months ahead: Not only is her hit TV series “Homeland” returning for its second season in September, but she’s pregnant as well.
Danes’ representative, Jodi Gottlieb, confirms the actress is expecting her first child with husband Hugh Dancy.
“There’s definitely a chance, no plans yet,” Danes told People last fall when asked if a baby could be on the way shortly. “But yeah, that’d be fun.”
Actor Andy Griffith dies in North Carolina at 86
U.S. actor Andy Griffith, whose portrayal of a small-town sheriff made “The Andy Griffith Show” one of television’s most enduring programs, died on July 3 at his North Carolina home at age 86.
His wife of three decades, Cindi Griffith, was at his bedside and issued a statement saying: “I cannot imagine life without Andy, but I take comfort and strength in God’s grace and in the knowledge that Andy is at peace and with God.”
Cruise tops Forbes list of highest paid actors
Tom Cruise led Forbes’ annual list of the 100 highest paid actors released on July 3, earning nearly twice that of second place Leonardo DiCaprio and recapturing the spot among Hollywood’s top-earning performers after his recent blockbuster “Mission: Impossible.”
