Christian Bale visits shooting victims 26

Batman star Christian Bale visited survivors of the Colorado theater shooting on July 24, and thanked medical staff and police officers who responded to the attack that killed 12 people and injured 58 others.

Bale visited with little advance warning and also stopped by a makeshift* memorial to victims near the movie theater that was showing "The Dark Knight Rises" when the gunfire erupted.

Stewart, director issue apologies for affair 27

Kristen Stewart has apologized publicly to boyfriend and "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson following tabloid* reports she had a brief but steamy* affair with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.

The 22-year-old actress issued her apology to People magazine on July 25. It was quickly followed by an apology to People from the 41-year-old Sanders to his family. Stewart has been in a relationship for several years with Pattinson. Sanders is married and has two children.

Latin actress Lupe Ontiveros dies

Lupe Ontiveros, a veteran Latin character actress who worked in films such as "As Good As It Gets" and in TV shows like "Desperate Housewives," died of lung cancer on July 26 at age of 69.

Ontiveros' TV credits* ranged widely, too, from parts in 1970s hits like "Charlie's Angeles" to "Hill Street Blues" in the 1980s, "Veronica's Closet" one decade later and current day smash hit "Desperate Housewives."

Lady Gaga makes acting debut in 'Machete Kills'

Pop music superstar Lady Gaga will make her feature film acting debut in "Machete Kills" as a character named La Chameleon in director/writer Robert Rodriguez's ("Grindhouse," "Spy Kids") sequel to 2010's "Machete."

Gaga, 26, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta and whose concerts and music videos are littered with various flamboyant* theatrics, confirmed her joining on Twitter. But little is known about her role, which is likely to be a cameo* or smaller film appearance.
