    Adele lends voice to Bond theme for “Skyfall”

    Grammy-winning British singer Adele added Bond girl to her superstar resume by signing on to write and sing the theme of the latest James Bond film “Skyfall” — her first song to be released since her best-selling heartbreak album “21,” Columbia Records said on October 1.

    Adele, 24, who swept the Grammy Awards earlier this year with accolades* in six categories, released the song on October 5 on her official Web site, to coincide with the Bond film franchise’s 50th anniversary and Global James Bond Day.

     

    

    Seth MacFarlane to host Oscars

    Outspoken comedian Seth MacFarlane, creator of “Family Guy,” will host the Oscars ceremony in February in a choice seen aimed at attracting younger viewers to the movie industry’s biggest night.

    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which produces the Oscars, announced the selection on October 1 of first-time host MacFarlane, known for his no-holds-barred* humor and cultural satire* in “Family Guy.”

     

    

    Lady Gaga wins LennonOno Grant for Peace

    Music superstar Lady Gaga shared a peace prize in memory of John Lennon to honor her work campaigning for equality for gay, lesbian* and transgender people.

    The American singer has been chosen along with four others — including Russian punk band Pussy Riot and the late writer Christopher Hitchens — to receive the biennial LennonOno Grant for Peace.

     

    HK megastar Leon Lai announces divorce

    After seemingly endless speculation*, Leon Lai, 45, and 32-year-old Gaile Lok have officially announced the end of their four-year marriage.

    After a recent photo controversy involving Lok, the couple’s management company released a separation statement on their behalf on October 3, citing irreconcilable differences between the couple.
