Swift, Bieber dominate EMAs

Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber dominated the 2012 MTV European Music Awards held in Frankfurt on November 11, winning three trophies each. Swift ruled over her first-ever appearance at the EMAs, taking honors for best female, best live act and best look.

Bieber won best male, best pop and best worldwide stage act categories.

Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez split

A source confirmed to The Associated Press that Justin Bieber is no longer Selena Gomez’s “Boyfriend.”

The source was not authorized to discuss the split with the press and spoke on condition of anonymity. The breakup apparently happened last week, and distance and their busy schedules were cited as factors. The 18-year-old “Boyfriend” singer is touring to promote his latest album, while 20-year-old Gomez is filming a “Wizards of Waverly Place” reunion for the Disney Channel.

Lady Gaga donates for Sandy

Lady Gaga donated US$1 million to the Red Cross to aid those affected by Superstorm Sandy.

The New York-born singer posted on her blog on November 7 that she is pledging the money on behalf of her parents and sister. She also said she “would not be the woman or artist that I am today” if it weren’t for places like the Lower East Side, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn.

She writes: “Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours.”

Huo and Guo tie the knot

After eight years in love, mainland diving princess Guo Jingjing, 31 and Hong Kong heir Kenneth Fok, 33, registered for marriage in Hong Kong on November 8 and held wedding parties in Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

The three-installment wedding reportedly cost HK$15 million (US$1.9m).
