The fifth European Union Film Festival is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen between November 23 and 30 at the China Film IMAX Cinema at OCT Bay in Nanshan District, according to European Union Chamber of Commerce in China.
It will be the second time the EU film festival is held in the city. It will feature 26 feature films and three short films from Europe, including ones from Denmark, Estonia, Poland and Britian.
The festival will open with “Fish’n Chips,” a Cypriot film about the question of identity. A Cypriot immigrant in London returns to his hometown but finds out that it is not the one he remembers from his childhood and that he is not what he thought he was, a Greek Cypriot. On returning to London, he discovers his true identity.
Among the other films are “Turquaze” from Belgium, “In a Better World” from Denmark and “The Graveyard Keeper’s Daughter” from Estonia.
All the screenings will be in the original language with English or Chinese subtitles.
Shenzhen is the last of the four stops of this year’s film festival, which is also taking in Beijing, Tianjin and Chengdu.
