‘The Message,’ the greatest
hip-hop song
The 1982 hit “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was named the greatest hip-hop song of all time on December 5, in the first such list by Rolling Stone magazine to celebrate the young but influential music genre*.
“The Message,” which tops a list of 50 influential hip-hop songs, was the first track “to tell, with hip-hop’s rhythmic* and vocal force, the truth about modern inner-city life in America,” Rolling Stone said.
The list of 50 songs was compiled by a 33-member panel comprising* Rolling Stone editors and hip-hop experts.
Steve Jobs biopic to premiere
The star-studded* premiere lineup* for next year’s Sundance Film Festival, featuring the Steve Jobs biopic* “jOBS,” has been announced.
Ashton Kutcher plays the inventor and entrepreneur in the film that follows Jobs from his hippie college days to leading one of the most iconic* brands in the world.
The event, which is the biggest independent film festival in the United States, is to be held from January 17 to 27, 2013.
Male artists lead 2013 Grammy nominations
Male artists led the nominations announced on December 5 for the 2013 Grammys, as fun., Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys landed six nods each for music’s biggest awards.
Kelly Clarkson was one of the few leading female nominees, picking up three nominations, including record of the year and best pop vocal album.
R&B singer Rihanna also landed three nods, including best solo pop performance for “Where Have You Been.”
Jackie Chan sets 2 Guinness World Records
ACTION superstar Jackie Chan has been awarded with two Guinness World Records.
Chan was given “The Most Stunts Performed by a Living Actor” and “Most Credits in One Movie” awards.
