The diversity of Spanish art

ABOUT 15 artworks by five contemporary Spanish painters are being exhibited at the Bridge Gallery in Nanshan District.

The painters, José Antonio Palacios, Enrique Brinkmann, Cristina Duclos, Consuelo Hernández and Totte Mannes, are all the leading exponents of the styles and themes they adopt.

Among them, Hernández is currently holding another solo exhibition in Shanghai and her works were exhibited at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, while Brinkmann had also participated in several art exhibitions in China, according to Fina Wu, curator of the exhibition.

Palacios has continued the tradition of Milo and Picasso, but has developed his own style within this framework.

Brinkmann’s works are also influenced by Milo, but his works emphasize mood, which is something they have in common with Chinese painting.

Duclos specializes in exotic natural scenery, especially plants. Hernández’s paintings focus on dream imagery, while Mannes’s works display her understanding of the structures behind the physical world.

The exhibition is intended as an exchange between Chinese and Spanish artists and an introduction of Spanish art. We hope we can invite more Spanish artists to Shenzhen, giving more people an understanding of the country,” said Wu.

The Bridge Gallery, located in OCT-LOFT in Nanshan District, is one of the top professional art galleries in the country. It holds professional exhibitions and promotional activities on a regular basis, aiming at building communication between artists, critics and audiences.
