Comedy “Silver Linings Playbook” has become an Oscar frontrunner, as it won five awards of the 17th Satellite Awards presented in Hollywood, California on Sunday.
Directed by David O. Russell, the film was awarded best motion picture*, best actor for Bradley Cooper, best actress for Jennifer Lawrence, and an honor for editors Jay Cassidy and Crispin Struthers.
Tom Hooper’s stage musical “Les Miserables,” which led the nominations* with 10 nods*, got only three honor.
Javier Bardem from “Skyfall” was recognized as best supporting actor.
The awards are regarded as among the key precursors* to predict which films and actors will prevail at the Academy Awards .
French comedy “The Intouchables” and South Korean drama “Pieta” won the best international film prize.
