    Madonna leads Billboard’s top-grossing tours

    Madonna has topped the list of big money in tour-ticket sales, according to a new Billboard list released on December 18.

    Madonna, 54, earned an estimated* US$228.4 million in ticket sales from her sold-out ninth worldwide tour in support of her 12th studio album “MDNA” this year.

    Madonna came ahead of pop star Lady Gaga, who landed at No. 6, with ticket sales of US$124.9 million from her worldwide “Born This Way Ball” tour.

    ‘Lost in Thailand’ sets record

    Domestic* comedy “Lost in Thailand” has set a new record at the Chinese box office.

    It has become the first Chinese movie to sell over 300 million yuan (US$47 million) in its first week of release.

    Viewing numbers last Saturday alone reached over 2.5 million yuan, surpassing records set by “Titanic 3-D” and “Transformers 3.”

    Olivia Culpo: Miss Universe

    A 20-year-old beauty queen from Rhode Island was crowned* the new Miss Universe on December 18, beating out 88 other women during a televised competition at the Planet Hollywood casino* on the Las Vegas Strip*.

    Olivia Culpo took the crown from Leila Lopes of Angola after walking in a purple and blue bikini and a red velvet gown.

    Miss Philippines, Janine Tugonon, came in second, while Miss Venezuela, Irene Sofia Esser Quintero, placed third.

    Contestants from 89 countries on six continents spent the past two weeks in Las Vegas, where they posed in hardhats*, took a painting lesson, and pranked* hotel guests by hiding in their rooms.

    Wood has a family plan

    Ronnie Wood and his new bride are eager to start a family, according to reports.

    The Rolling Stones guitarist, 65, exchanged vows with 34-year-old Sally Humphreys in London on Friday.

    According to U.K. newspaper The Daily Mirror, the couple are looking forward to expanding their family as soon as possible. (SD-Agencies)
