    Hathaway wins CDG awards

    Actress Anne Hathaway was deemed* best dressed by people who dress her for work.

    The actress who won the supporting actress Academy Award for her role in “Les Miserables,” was honored on the evening of February 19 with the spotlight award at the 15th annual Costume Designers Guild (CDG) Awards. The spotlight award honors actors and directors for their collaborations with costume designers.

    The costume designers behind “Skyfall,” “Anna Karenina” and “Mirror Mirror” won the night’s top prizes.

    IMAX ‘The Hobbit’ amazes SZ fans

    Some 100 movie fans sat through the midnight screening of Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” at the UA Cinemas at KK Mall on Thursday. It was one of the earliest public showings of the film on the Chinese mainland.

    In its first two days, the film grossed* 150,000 yuan (US$24,000) at the IMAX theater at KK Mall, 66 percent more than the total of its normal-size theaters.

    Star diagnosed with leukemia

    Deng Minghe, the child star who performed “Paper-cutting Flowers” during the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, is said to have developed leukemia*, Beijing Times reported.

    A message was posted on Sina Weibo, saying that “one of the two cute children performing ‘Paper-cutting Flowers’ on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala has been diagnosed* with the disease of leukemia. He’s already been admitted to the Beijing Children’s Hospital.”

    The hospital confirmed the news on Friday but refused to disclose any more details related to the treatment process. 

    ‘Twilight’ wins 7 Razzie Awards

    “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” took home worst picture at the 11th annual Razzie Awards, which celebrated Hollywoood’s worst filmmakers and actors.

    Kristen Stewart took home worst actress for her work in “Twilight” and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” and Taylor Lautner won worst supporting actor for his turn as Jacob Black.

    The film also won worst director (Bill Condon), worst screen couple (Lautner and Mackenzie Foy), worst onscreen ensemble, and worst remake and sequel.
