Before My Time
     2013-March-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Cold Feet, don’t fail me now

    So much left to do

If I should run ten thousand miles home

    Would you be there?

Just a taste of things to come

    I still smile

But I don’t wanna die alone

    I don’t wanna die alone

    Way before my time

    Keep calm and carry on

    No worse for the wear

    I don’t wanna die alone

    I don’t wanna die alone

    Way before my time

    Is it any wonder

    All this empty air

    I’m drowning in the laughter

Way before my time has come

    Background:

This song, performed by actress and singer Scarlett Johansson and Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song at the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Written and produced by J. Ralph, it is featured as the main end title of the documentary “Chasing Ice.” “Before My Time” is one of only three songs from a documentary ever to be nominated for Oscar’s Original Song category in history.

Winner of numerous awards and festivals around the world, “Chasing Ice” provides ground-breaking visual evidence of climate change. Bookending the onscreen experience of the documentary, “Before My Time” is an arresting coda that contrasts the force of nature and will of mankind. Johansson’s hypnotic delivery and Bell’s hopeful violin transport each listener far beyond the screen.
