‘Django Unchained’ to open on mainland
American director Quentin Tarantino will have his work officially released on the Chinese mainland for the first time. His latest film “Django Unchained” will be released* on April 8.
The director is likely to meet Chinese audiences face to face at the premiere*.
“Django Unchained,” starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kerry Washington, is about a freed slave who treks across the United States with a bounty* hunter to rescue his wife from a cruel plantation owner*.
Victoria to bring fashion to China
British celebrity Victoria Beckham has set her eyes on the Asian markets and is set to launch her new fashion designs in China, British media reported.
The former member of the Spice Girls will fly to China this month and make a series of high-profile appearances as well as show off her fashion line to buyers.
The 38-year-old’s decision came days after husband David Beckham was unveiled as China’s first ever global football ambassador.
Anchors join Shenzhen TV
Two established TV hosts have joined Shenzhen Satellite TV as the local channel launched two new entertainment programs this month.
Le Jia, a psychological analyst who rose to fame on the smash hit dating show “If You Are the One” on Jiangsu Satellite TV, hosts talk show “Q & Night” every Thursday night at
9:20 p.m.
Well-known entertainment TV hostess Li Xiang has also joined Shenzhen TV, hosting “Men vs. Women,” a Chinese version* of the Dutch game show “Battle of the Sexes,” which is broadcast every Saturday night at 9:20 p.m.
Jay-Z to put modern jazz twist
U.S. rapper Jay-Z has teamed up* with Australian director Baz Luhrmann to produce and perform on the soundtrack* for “The Great Gatsby” which will open the 2013 Cannes film festival in May.
Jay-Z said he joined some of the world’s top musical artists on the soundtrack which will bring modern “jazz age” energy to the latest film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel of 1920s America.(SD-Agencies)
