Backstreet Boys to hit Shenzhen
Backstreet Boys, the world’s most popular boy band in the 1990s, will perform at Shenzhen Bay Sports Center on May 26.
The concert is part of the band’s This Is Us Asian Tour, and it will be the band’s first Asian tour since Kevin Richardson rejoined them last September.
The group made their very first performance as a reunited five-member band in August, as part of Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series. In addition, a documentary film about the band is scheduled for release next year.
Katy and John split again
Katy Perry and John Mayer’s on-again*, off-again* relationship is, once again, off.
The music superstars have split after a second stint of dating — this time around, they lasted for seven months.
Perry, 28, and Mayer, 35, previously dated during the summer of 2012, before splitting for the first time in August of the same year.
Cowell to find talent on YouTube
Talent show guru* Simon Cowell is taking his popular television formula to find new stars seeking fast fame to YouTube, joining a growing trend of companies using the Internet to bypass traditional broadcasters.
Cowell, the mastermind behind global TV franchises “The X Factor” and “Got Talent,” unveiled plans this week for the first global audition channel, called The You Generation, that was launched in 26 countries on March 20.
Syco Entertainment, Cowell’s joint venture with Sony Music, said it had teamed up with YouTube to run 26 fortnightly* contests over the next year to give people the chance to upload audition videos and win a cash prize.
Stewart wins Kids’ Choice Awards
“Twilight Saga” star Kristen Stewart won two Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday.
Stewart, 22, said she “felt like I have finally found my kindergartner* self,” as she accepted trophies for movie actress and favorite female butt kicker.
Organizers said more than 350 million votes were cast online in more than 20 categories, spanning film, television, books, music and sport for the stunt-filled annual award show on youth channel Nickelodeon.
