    Security concerns over NY gala

    The Tribeca Film Festival was took a as celebs* attended an annual Vanity Fair gala* in New York City on April 16 to kick off this year’s event.

    Police and security guards were at the festival at night.

    Whoopi Goldberg said she understood if some people were worried about going out in crowded, public areas.

    “I say that’s alright. We’re out for you,” she said. “Stay until you feel better. But we’re out here and we got your back.”

    The actress and TV personality is a juror at the festival this year and directed a documentary that is holding its world premiere called “I Got Somethin’ to Tell You” about comedian Moms Mabley.

    

    Oscar show producers to return

    Oscar organizers are bringing back Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to produce the Academy Awards telecast* for a second year.

    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hands out the awards in the movie industry, said Tuesday that Zadan and Meron had been chosen to produce the 2014 Oscar show.

    “Family Guy” comedian Seth MacFarlane hosted this year’s event but the academy did not announce a host for the 2014 ceremony.

    

    Sequels for ‘Fast & Furious 7,’ ‘Snow White’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’

    Universal Pictures said it had set the release date of “Fast & Furious 7” for July 11, 2014 in the United States. James Wan is taking over the director’s chair from Justin Lin, whose “Fast & Furious 6” will be staged in theaters May 24.

    Universal also announced that it will release sequels* to Kristen Stewart blockbuster “Snow White and the Huntsman” and surprise hit “Pitch Perfect” in 2015.

    Earlier this year, Ain’t It Cool News reported that Jason Statham will play the villain in “Fast & Furious 7.”

    

    Kidman to join ‘Anchorman 2’

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kidman recently shot a hilarious* cameo* in Atlanta for the “Anchorman” sequel. “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” or simply “Anchorman,” is a 2004 comedy directed by Adam McKay and starring Will Ferrell.

    The 45-year-old actress is no stranger to working with Ferrell — the pair co-starred in 2005’s “Bewitched.”(SD-Agencies)
