    Yeung goes behind the camera

Hong Kong actress Charlie Yeung’s directorial debut, “Christmas Rose,” will open on May 23 in Hong Kong theaters and May 24 on the mainland. As opposed* to female directors Xue Xiaolu and Zhao Wei, who chose romantic themes for their spring releases, Yeung chose a courtroom setting.

In “Christmas Rose,” a disabled piano teacher named Jing (Gwei Lun-mei) accuses her surgeon* (Chang Chen) of sexual assault and urges a prosecutor, Tim (Aaron Kwok), to help her. But without any witnesses and confronting a rival from his previous law firm, Tim finds himself in a complicated situation.

    Psy’s story immortalized

The story of South Korean rapper Psy’s ascent to global stardom* with his song “Gangnam Style” has now been immortalized* in full color in a comic book.

“Fame: Psy,” which went on sale in the United States and South Korea on April 24, focuses mainly on what went into making “Gangnam Style.”

“Has he fallen from the sky? Has he risen from the earth?” the comic begins, with illustrations showing Psy -- in the suits he made famous in “Gangnam Style” and striking poses from his “Horse Riding Dance” -- descending* from heaven and bursting through the earth.

    Black actor in‘Downton Abbey’

“Downton Abbey” has officially added its first black cast member to the show. London-born Gary Carr will join the popular British period drama for its fourth season. Carr has appeared in television series “Bluestone 42” and “Death in Paradise.” Carr will play Jack Ross, a charming jazz singer.

“Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes had been criticized for the show’s lack of diversity. While Fellowes said that he wanted to introduce black and Asian characters, he felt beholden* to doing so in a manner that would be “historically believable.”

    Knightley weds rocker fiance

British actress Keira Knightley married her rock musician boyfriend James Righton on Saturday in a discreet* ceremony in a French village.

Knightley, 28, got engaged a year ago to Righton, who plays in the British band Klaxons. The couple has been dating for about two years.(SD-Agencies)
