逗趣礼物

    飞机上常常会给乘客放映逗趣短片，叫gags，gift是“礼物”。Gag gift是什么呢？请看对话：

    A: Next week will be Jake’s birthday. What gift can I buy him?

    B: How about a T-shirt? It’s never wrong to give a boy a T-shirt.

    A: I gave him a T-shirt last year, and a CD and books in the years before.

    B: Then how about a gag gift?

    A: What’s a gag gift?

    B: A gag gift is any funny-looking gift that will presumably make its receiver gag — go open-mouthed in astonishment and shock. I think Jake will like this idea.

    A: OK, how about an innocent-looking whoopee cushion for his chair?

    B: That could even be called a prank gift! Perhaps you can buy him a coffee mug with a hilarious one-liner or cartoon character boxer shorts.
