    Rain discharged from military

    South Korean pop sensation Rain is out of the military.

    Under cloudy skies on July 10, Rain fired off a crisp salute and thanked a large crowd of mostly media and women who’d gathered to commemorate his discharge after 21 months of mandatory* service.

    The fans held signs reading in Korean and English: “We waited for you” and “Rain’s coming.” One Japanese fan said she’d been waiting for more than a day to see the “entertainment soldier.”

    

    Jolie to direct ‘Unbroken’

    Universal Pictures will release Angelina Jolie’s second directorial movie, “Unbroken,” on December 25, 2014.

    “Unbroken” is set to begin production in September. Jolie has cast “300: Rise of an Empire” star Jack O’Connell as Louis Zamperini in the movie, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

    “Unbroken” is based on The New York Times best-selling book “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption” by Laura Hillenbrand, the author of “Seabiscuit: An American Legend.”

    

    Adam Lambert joining ‘Glee’

    U.S. singer-songwriter Adam Lambert will be joining “Glee” for its fifth season, co-creator Ryan Murphy announced on July 10 via Twitter.

    “I am thrilled to announce that the super-talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of ‘Glee’ this fall,” Murphy tweeted.

    “I’m so excited!” Lambert added, retweeting Murphy’s message.

    It is unknown whom Lambert will play in “Glee.”

    

    Spring Festival Gala directors revealed

    After days of guessing and hot discussions, the big names to direct next year’s Spring Festival Gala* have been announced by the country’s most influential television station.

    In addition to popular Chinese film director Feng Xiaogang as the gala’s chief director, well-known skit and sitcom actor Zhao Benshan was confirmed as a vice director by China Central Television on July 12. Zhao will be in charge of language programs for the gala welcoming the Year of the Horse.(SD-Agencies)
