U.S. actor and screenwriter Wentworth Miller, best known for his leading role in Fox television drama “Prison Break,” came out as gay on August 21, in a letter declining an invitation to attend a Russian film festival in light of Moscow’s recently adopted anti-gay laws.

Miller, 41, turned down an offer to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival as a “guest of honor” in a letter posted on the website of advocacy group GLAAD, who monitors the media representation of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people and issues.

    ‘Trump University’ sued

New York’s attorney general sued Donald Trump for US$40 million on Saturday, saying the real estate mogul helped run a phony* “Trump University” that promised to make students rich but instead steered* them into expensive and mostly useless seminars, and even failed to deliver promised apprenticeships*.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says many of the 5,000 students who paid up to US$35,000 thought they would at least meet Trump but instead all they got was their picture taken in front of a life-size picture of “The Apprentice” TV star.

Ben Affleck signed for Batman sequel

Ben Affleck will join Henry Cavill in Warner Bros.’ “Man of Steel” sequel, the studio announced on Thursday.

The project was announced at Comic-Con earlier this year, prompting much speculation surrounding who would play the Caped Crusader*. Zack Snyder is back in the director’s chair for the project, which places Batman and Superman together on the big screen for the first time.

    Justin Timberlake

    caps VMA awards

Justin Timberlake took over the awards at the MTV Music Awards on Sunday night, wrestling* the spotlight away from a rehabilitated* Lady Gaga, an X-rated Miley Cyrus and a vengeful Taylor Swift with a medley of hits and the reunion with former boy band mates ‘N Sync.

Timberlake won moonman trophies including top honor video of the year for “Mirrors” plus the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and managed to overshadow* most of today’s top pop stars while doing it.(SD-Agencies)
