迪斯尼动画片《飞机总动员》
With good visual effects, this production of Disneytoon Studios, however, is short of the kind of character depth and drama found in previous* Pixar movies.
Set in a place of the American Midwest that looks very much like Radiator Springs from the first “Cars” movie, “Planes” tells the story of Dusty Crophopper (voiced by Dane Cook), a crop duster* who feels the need for speed and wants to go to flying competitions.
The only problem is that poor Dusty suffers from a fear of heights.
Then he becomes the student of Skipper (Stacy Keach), a Navy Corsair* who once commanded the famous Jolly Wrenches squadron* until an incident* forced him to retire. Dusty also receives training from Dottie (Teri Hatcher), a brave, no-nonsense forklift*.
After a few trials, Dusty finds himself going up against the unbeatable* Ripslinger (Roger Craig Smith) in a world air-racing event that takes him a long way from the heartland* of the United States.
Based on an idea of executive producer John Lasseter and directed by Klay Hall, the film includes enough technical jargon* to please aviation* fans but lacks originality* when it comes to the characters.
Written by Jeffrey M. Howard (“Secret of the Wings”), the screenplay is very similar to that of “Cars” — gruff* Skipper is a winged Doc Hudson; Dusty’s smug*, green enemy Ripslinger is a knock-off* of McQueen’s smug, green enemy Chick Hicks; slow fuel truck Chug (voiced by Brad Garrett) is like slow tow-truck* Mater.
The voice cast, who sound very familiar, are well chosen, with “Top Gun” co-stars Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer lending their voices to the characters of Echo and Bravo, while Brent Musburger keeps his “Cars 2” role as sportscaster* Brent Mustangburger.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is cast as a French-Canadian competitor named Rochelle, who’s being courted* by overly-confident El Chupacabra (Carlos Alazraqui).(SD-Agencies)
