An unlikely friendship with a cat has led to a book deal and a new way of life for a former homeless north London busker*.
When James Bowen found an injured, street cat in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation*, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth* on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet.
Yet Bowen couldn’t resist* helping the very clever tomcat, whom he quickly named Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, thinking he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas.
Soon the two were good friends and their colorful, funny and sometimes dangerous adventures* would change both their lives, slowly healing* the scars* of each other’s troubled pasts.
One of the good things about this book is that the cat doesn’t die. All the best stories about lovely animals end with their deaths, except this one. Another really good thing is that Bob is a real cat. You can follow his Facebook page, which is totally current, and watch some videos of him on YouTube. Bob and Bowen have even appeared on a TV show.
It’s not very well written or deeply philosophical*, it just a sweet, wonderful story about a sweet man and a wonderful cat, and that’s the best thing.
You may come to believe in the power of animals after reading it. They can heal, teach, and push us to be better people. Both Chinese and English versions are available online.(SD-Agencies)
