The Yuan Tower, along the Pearl River in Guangzhou, stands completed yesterday. The coin-shaped building is 138 meters tall and has 33 stories. The building will house the headquarters of Guangdong Plastic Exchange and is set to open next week. The building’s shape, of an ancient Chinese coin, has stirred significant public discussion. Many people said the design reflects the “naked desire of the property owners to chase money.” Xinhua
