CHINESE actress Tang Wei lost 210,000 yuan (US$34000) in telephone fraud Saturday, and has reported the loss to Shanghai police.
The actress received the phone call from a fraud who posed as an employee of her telecom operator and got the money transferred from her Bank of Communications account. A netizen posted a photo of Tang applying for a new card at a bank outlet together with the actress’ signature. Police of Songjiang District confirmed the news, but refused to give further details because the case is under investigation now.
Tang is shooting a historical romance movie in Shanghai, in which Hong Kong film star Lau Ching-wan is casted as her lover.
“She was not disturbed after it happened,” said her rep Ms. Zheng. “Everything is smooth with the shooting.”
