Meaning:

    “腹黑,” or “dark belly,” originates from Japanese ACG (animation, comics, games) terminology. It refers to a person who appears nice and friendly but is evil inside. This type of person is usually very intelligent and competent.

    Example:

    A: 憨豆先生表面上总是一副憨态可掬的绅士模样，其实他腹黑的很。你看他在短片里面总是捣乱，害别人。

    Hāndòu xiānshēng biǎomiàn shàng zǒngshì yīfù hāntàikějū de shēnshì múyàng， qíshí tā fùhēi de hěn。 Nǐ kàn tā zài duǎnpiàn lǐmiàn zǒngshì dǎoluàn， hài biérén。

    Mr. Bean looks adorable and nice, but actually, he is a very bad person because he is always making trouble and causing problems for people.

    I don’t think so. Mr. Bean is not evil at all. He never deliberately does anything bad. He is just childish, selfish, mischievous and ignorant of basic facts of life.
