渣男
     2014-April-7  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Meaning:

“渣” means “dregs,” and “男” means “men.” This term, originally used to refer to unsuccessful men who allow themselves to degenerate, is now more often used by Chinese netizens to describe men who are irresponsible in their relationships with women.

    Example:

    A: 小花和男朋友分手了!他和一个健身教练偷情被小花撞见了。

Xiǎohuā hé nánpéngyǒu fēnshǒu le! Tā hé yīgè jiànshēn jiàoliàn tōuqíng bèi xiǎohuā zhuàngjiàn le。

Xiaohua broke up with her boyfriend. She caught him cheating on her with a gym tutor.

    B: 我早就看出那个家伙是个渣男。

Wǒ zǎo jìu kànchū nàge jiāhuǒ shì gè zhānán。

I have long suspected that the guy is a Casanova.

    A: 你怎么看出来的?

    Nǐ zěnme kàn chūlái de?

Where did you get that hunch?

    B: 有一次我们一起吃饭时,他不停甜言蜜语哄小花,可是眼睛却到处看路过的美女。

Yǒu yīcì wǒmen yīqǐ chīfàn shí, tā bùtíng tiányán-mìyǔ hǒng xiǎohuā, kěshì yǎnjīng què dàochù kàn lùguò de měinǚ。

Once when we had dinner together, he kept buttering up Xiaohua, but cast his looks elsewhere, following the steps of beautiful women passing by.
