SHENZHENERS ordered at least 400 Tesla sedans, a U.S.-based luxury electric car brand, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday, citing Wang Zhenfei, founder of the Tesla fan club, EVCLUB.
Wang drove a Tesla model S to complete a trip of more than 2,700 kilometers from Beijing to Shenzhen at the end of May.
Wang said charging stations for electric cars are being constructed in commercial areas around Shenzhen, including OCT Bay, The MixC and Coco Park. Most of these charging stations will be completed within this month and are open to Tesla drivers for free.
China is expected to see more than 10,000 Tesla sedans in use by the end of this year, mainly in developed places, including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, according to Wang.
Tesla said more than 50 charging stations have been completed in 17 Chinese cities.
The first Tesla cars arrived in China in April.
