Zhou Bichang, Pu Shu to grace music festival
     2014-July-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Chinese pop singer Zhou Bichang will collaborate with singer Pu Shu as well as a string of other singers at the Happy Dujuan Music Festival in September.

Happy Dujuan has the same pronunciation in Chinese as the bougainvillea flower, ledujuan, which is the city flower of Shenzhen.

Zhou was the first runner-up in the 2005 Super Girl Competition, which is a Chinese version of “Pop Idol,” a contest only for female singers. She specializes in singing R&B and has covered songs by David Tao, Leehom Wang, and Jay Chou.

Her debut album, “Who Touched My Violin String,” was released in August 2006. In early 2007, Zhou attended the Encore Program at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, with a concentration in R&B vocal performance. In 2007, the singer released twin albums, “Now” and “Wow.” “Now” featured Zhou’s iconic R&B style while “Wow” highlighted her versatility in various music genres as she forayed into rock, ballad, Britpop and dance.

Pu started composing songs in 1994. His signature works are “Flowers” and “Birch Forest.” He has also appeared in films such as “Flowers Blooming” and “If I Lose You.”
