“妥” means “appropriate” or “settled.” Originating from dialect in Northeast China, this term used to assure other people that something has been taken care of was picked up by Chinese netizens from a popular TV series “Brothers’ Happiness.” The show premiered in 2010 with Fan Wei cast in the leading role, whose pet phrase was “妥妥的.”
