THE Sundance Film Festival is heading east.
According to the entertainment trade publication Variety, the Sundance Institute is expanding to Hong Kong with a screening series this coming September.
The series “Sundance Film Festival — Hong Kong Selects” will host the Hong Kong premieres of eight movies that screened at Sundance in the United States earlier this year.
Screenings will take place at the recently opened cineplex in Kowloon Bay in September.
The event’s program will be unveiled in mid-August, with tickets going on sale at the end of the month.
Sundance Film Festival director John Cooper told Variety that Hong Kong is an ideal location to “share the best of American independent film” because of its “rich cinematic history.”(SD-Agencies)
