CHINA will impose antidumping tariffs on some single-mode optical fiber products from India, the Ministry of Commerce said in a final ruling yesterday.
After a year-long investigation, the ministry found the imported products had harmed domestic producers, according to a statement on the ministry’s website.
Starting today, most single-mode optical fiber products from India will receive a punitive duty of 24.5 percent, the statement said.
SterliteTechnologies Ltd. and Birla Furukawa Fibre Optics Ltd. will pay 7.4 percent and 11.4 percent respectively, while AkshOptifibre Ltd. and Finolex Cables Ltd. will pay 30.6 percent, the ministry said.
The measures will last five years, it said.
Single-mode optical fiber is normally used in long-distance cables for data transmission.
The Indian commerce ministry couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
