THE King of Pop might be dead but his social media accounts live on.
Michael Jackson’s Twitter account released a short film titled “A Place With No Home” as one of the first music videos to premiere on the social platform Thursday.
“Music is the No. 1 most-discussed subject on Twitter in the United States and 50 percent of all of our users follow at least one musician,” Shavone Charles, a Twitter spokesperson was quoted as saying.
“Music fans from around the globe flock to discover and discuss new music in the moment,” she added.
The video will also be broadcast in the middle of New York City’s Times Square.
“A Place With No Name,” which is directed by Samuel Bayer, is the first music video to launch on Twitter. Jackson’s Twitter account has a staggering 1.5 million followers.
Twitter’s head of music Bob Moczydlowsky noted that the clip features exclusive footage of the deceased artist and that Michael Jackson’s account has been mentioned on Twitter more than 6.4 million times over the past year. The single is part of the legendary artist’s album “XSCAPE,” which was released in May.(SD-Agencies)
