Christine Fan pregnant with twins
     2014-August-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TAIWANESE singer-songwriter Christine Fan announced on her Sina Weibo account yesterday that she is pregnant with twins. Her husband Chen Chien-chou confirmed the news saying, “Thank God for gifting us with two new lives” on his Weibo account.

Although the couple didn’t reveal the sex of the twins, they have nicknamed the babies “big panda” and “little panda.”

More than 70,000 netizens, including the couple’s friend Barbie Hsu, congratulated them immediately.

“God has given us more than we wished for. I choose this beautiful Sunday to share the joy of my family with all of you,” Fan wrote on her Weibo account. “We will have new members in the family! Thank Him for the blessing that is beyond our expectations!”

Fan said she nicknamed the babies “pandas” because the pregnancy coincided with an accident in which she fell and bruised her face. The singer previously revealed that she wanted baby girls.

Born in Ohio, the United States in 1976, Fan studied at Pomona College and the Harvard Extension School. Later, she hosted the variety show “Bang Bang Tang” on Channel [V] in Taiwan. She has released nine albums and has starred in TV shows and a movie.

Her husband, better known by his nickname “Blackie,” is a TV personality and host for various shows. He was a professional basketball player before going into show biz.

The couple had a 10-year marathon courtship before Chen proposed during halftime at a 2010 NBA game that NBA player Yi Jianlian invited them to watch. “My love for you never changes. Marrying you is a dream I’ve been dreaming for the past 10 years. You are the best gift God has given me in my life,” Chen said during his proposal.

Fan put on the diamond ring in tears, cheered on by players and the audience at the game. They were married in Taipei in May 2011.

Many netizens say no matter what happens to other people, Fan and Chen prove to them that people in show biz still believe in true love.

Fan and Chen also co-founded and are the spokespersons for the Love Life charity campaign.(Li Dan)
