Urban images festival to open in Futian
     2014-August-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    (From Page 1)

The complete series is expected to be aired about one week before China’s National Day on platforms including CCTV News, Youtube and WeChat.

A 65-year-old man born in Shuiwei and still living there appears in the video to tell the story of the village’s changes.

“Shuiwei looks very fascinating. I’ve been to Shenzhen many times, but I knew little about it. It’s a place that had its existence change rapidly since 1980s, but it’s hard to imagine what was here before. It’s a really nice project to try to think about what happened,” said Clark, who used to work for China Daily for four years.

“I’m interested in telling the story of how the village has become what it has become, how the village has changed, and what it means to people,” he said.

“It’s interesting to discover the history of the village. There is very little left here from the original village,” said Clark, who will give a lecture during the festival.

People who are interested in the event can first subscribe to the event’s official WeChat account — “szftms” — then send a message saying: “I want to join” and when a reply is issued, applicants can have access to exhibitions.

More information about the festival can be acquired at the festival organizer’s WeChat account, 福田国际城区影像节 (in pinyin: “Futian Guoji Chengqu Yingxiang Jie”).
