    Trapped miners

    RESCUE workers and trapped miners alike frantically dug away at opposite sides of rock and mud that blocked a Nicaragua gold mine, finally succeeding in freeing at least 20 men. Efforts to reach five miners still missing continued Saturday.

    Cocaine seizure

    PERU’S interior ministry said Saturday the final tally of a record cocaine seizure last week totaled 7.6 tons, valued at more than US$300,000 million. The stack of cocaine was found hidden in a shipment of coal in the Peruvian city of Trujillo and was to have been moved on to Spain and Belgium.

    Thailand ministers

    A ROYAL command appointing Thailand’s interim Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was announced yesterday, with five deputy prime ministers included in the list. The five deputy premiers are Prawit Wongsuwan, Pridiyathorn Devakula, Yongyuth Yutthawong, Supreme Commander Tanasak Patimapakorn and Wissanu Krea Ngam, according to the royal command issued by the king Saturday and published in the Royal Gazette yesterday.
