    Dumping rates

    THE U.S. Commerce Department on Tuesday set preliminary dumping rates on imported steel wire rod from China, signaling that it may impose punitive duties on the products.

    The department made its preliminary affirmative determination that carbon and certain alloy steel wire rod from China has been sold in the United States at dumping margins ranging from 106.19 percent to 110.25 percent. Punitive duties would be imposed after both the Commerce Department and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) made affirmative final rulings, which are scheduled in November and December, respectively. Imports of these products from China were estimated at US$313 million last year.

    Motorcycle recalls

    U.S. motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson will recall 335 motorcycles exported to the Chinese mainland after discovering potential brake problems.

    The recall, which started Tuesday, involves the 2014 Touring and CVO Touring models, a statement on the website of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said. The motorcycles were produced between July 1, 2013 and May 7, 2014.

    Cloud park

    A CLOUD industrial park opened in Shenzhen’s Longgang District, an industry summit focusing on China’s booming O2O (online to offline) business revealed late last week.

    Covering an area of 760,000 square meters in Bantian Area, Shenzhen Tian’an Cloud Industrial Park will serve as an incubator for small and micro high-tech enterprises. The summit was organized by Invest Shenzhen, Longgang District Government and the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
