WORK on a passage linking Aiguo Road flyover with the main entrance to Shenzhen Eastern Cross-Border Expressway will start this year.
To reduce its impact on residents in Luohu District, the 3-km link will go under Donghu Park and will include two underground interchanges, claimed by Shenzhen transportation commission as China’s first. The two interchanges, which are 1.3 kilometers and 1.1 kilometers, will divert vehicles to Liantang and Wenjindu.
The project will be completed in July 2017, hopefully in time for the opening of Shenzhen Eastern Cross Border Expressway and Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Checkpoint between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
The latter is scheduled to open during or before 2018.
After the 31-kilometer Shenzhen Eastern Cross-Border Expressway is put into service, the travel time from Hong Kong to eastern Shenzhen will be cut by half an hour. It is expected to become the seventh cross-border facility between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
