     2014-September-5  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TAIWANESE actress, singer and writer Annie Yi revealed on her microblog Wednesday that mainland actor Qin Hao proposed to her by releasing a series of photos of the proposal.

The photos, which show Qin kneeling among candles and holding a bundle of flowers for Yi with fireworks in the sky, were taken in Turkey on July 14, according to Yi’s post. Yi said she was in Turkey shooting a new project. “The crew members told me to have my makeup done for a media interview, but Qin was there to surprise me.”

Earlier media reports said the couple began dating in July 2013 after meeting at a party. In February, they attended the Berlin Film Festival together wearing rings as Qin’s film “Blind Massage” competed for the Golden Bear. On July 23, Yi made a long Weibo post celebrating her one-year anniversary with Qin, who replied on his microblog.

Qin, 36, is famous for acting in a series art house films. He has been nominated for the best actor award at Cannes three times for his roles in “Shanghai Dreams” (2005), “Spring Fever” (2009) and “Chongqing Blues” (2010). Chinese art house movie director Wang Xiaoshuai called Qin “the uncrowned king of Cannes.”

Yi, 45, was married to Taiwanese singer-songwriter Harlem Yu in 2000 and divorced in 2009. She has a 12-year-old son with Yu. In 2010, she signed on as a judge for the popular TV show “China’s Got Talent.”(Deng Wenwen)
