“NICE Guys,” a detective thriller starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, will arrive in summer 2016.
Warner Bros., which picked up the film in July, has slated it for release June 17, 2016.
“Iron Man 3” helmer Shane Black is directing the film, which is set in the 1970s in Los Angeles and follows a private eye (Gosling) and a hired leg-breaker (Crowe) who must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star.
The project will begin production in the fall.
Crowe, Gosling and Black are all veterans of crime capers. Crowe starred in “L.A. Confidential” and “American Gangster,” Gosling appeared in “Gangster Squad” and Black lent his dark, sardonic wit to the “Lethal Weapon” as screenwriter and “Kiss Kiss” as director.
Black also recently signed on to direct Sony’s adaptation of the long-running pulp book series “The Destroyer.”
“The Nice Guys” is currently slated to open against the animated movies “Finding Dory” and “How to Train Your Dragon 3.”(SD-Agencies)
