Logistics activity
THE growth of China’s logistics activities slowed in August amid downward pressure in the economic recovery, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on Friday.
The logistics performance index (LPI) for August came in at 54.1 percent, down 2.7 percentage points from a month earlier.
A reading above 50 percent indicates expansion from the previous month, while a reading below indicates contraction.
Wholesale markets
COMBINED trade volume of major wholesale markets in China increased 6.7 percent year on year to 9.9 trillion yuan (US$1.6 trillion) in 2013, new data has showed.
The number of the markets, however, dropped to 5,089, Zhang Zhigang, president of the China General Chamber of Commerce, said Friday during a press conference for the third China Marketing Forum.
The calculation was collected from markets with total volume of more than 100 million yuan a year.
