Meaning:

    “也” means “also,” “是” means to “be,” and “醉了” means “intoxicated.” This term, popular among Chinese netizens now, is often used sarcastically to mean someone is “shocked by something unpleasant, unnatural, disturbing or ugly.” If someone posts a very ugly picture of oneself, those who see the photo might say “也是醉了.” It’s also used in complaints about being treated badly.

    Example:

    A: 今天中秋节，中午我们出去吃饭吧。

    Jīntiān zhōngqīujié, zhōngwǔ wǒmen chūqù chīfàn ba。

    It’s Mid-Autumn Festival today. Let’s dine out this noon.
