POLICE in Central China’s Henan Province are searching for a vice mayor who disappeared in late July, allegedly together with two other people.
Police are investigating the disappearance of Guo Yipin, 52, vice mayor of Luoyang City, a city publicity official said Monday.
Guo was elected vice mayor of Luoyang in February. He is in charge of the city’s work safety, coal mining, environmental protection and transportation.
Police are searching any possible hideouts where Guo and two others — one a local real estate developer — might be staying, including houses, yards and derelict workshops.
Guo was leading a team tackling the city’s illegal tricycles and demanded a meeting each day during the campaign. Since late July, other leading officials have not seen or heard from him and the daily meeting he presided over halted.
Guo asked for a leave at the end of July to “take his ill mother to see a doctor” in Beijing. But he was out of contact since then, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.(Xinhua)
