THREE Chinese people were arrested Monday after a fight broke out outside the Broadway Apple store in New Haven in Connecticut of the United States, local police said.
Police did not identify those arrested, but said all three were issued summons for various charges including breach of peace, disorderly conduct and interfering with police. One man received minor injuries.
Officer David B Hartman said the problems seem to have stemmed from two rival groups of Chinese men and women who traveled there and to many other Apple stores to buy as many iPhones as the stores allow per purchaser.
“It has been reported to us the groups resell the phones in China for a significant mark-up. These rival groups have been challenging each other over their places in line. At times these challenges have resulted in violence.”
Since the release of Apple’s newest iPhone, police have been called to the store several times for reports of “unruly behavior by some of the people waiting to purchase the phones,” Hartman said.
Apple released the iPhone 6 on Friday to record sales. Hundreds lined up outside stores across the United States.
