Mu’s ‘One Child’ makes shortlist for Academy Award
     2014-October-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINESE director Mu Zijian’s film “One Child” has made the shortlist of eight documentary short subject contenders up for an Academy Award.

Mu, a Sichuan native who is currently a freelance documentary filmmaker based in the United States, explores the lives of the parents who lost their only child in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China in this documentary.

The film has won the 2014 Student Academy Awards and the 2013 Sidney Gross Memorial Prize for Investigative Journalism.

After a second round of voting by all members of the Academy’s Documentary Branch, three to five of the films will be nominated for the prestigious award.

The final nomination list will be released in January. (CRI)
