Off-color humor
     2014-October-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    下流笑话

    Off-color字面解释是“颜色不好的”,off-color humor是什么意思呢?请看对话:

A: Hey, have you read what Mike thinks about the sex scandal that involved his ex-girlfriend — he posted a link to his personal website on his QQ instant messenger?

B: No, I’ve got piles of files to sort out today. What did he say?

A: I didn’t know he’d talk like that. His off-color humor would embarrass anyone that visits his website.

Note: The term off-color humor (also known as vulgar humor or crude humor) is an Americanism used to describe jokes, prose, poems, black comedy, blue comedy, insult comedy, cringe comedy and skits that deal with topics that may be considered to be in poor taste or overly vulgar. Most commonly labeled as “off-color” are acts concerned with sex, a particular ethnic group, or gender. In some parts of the world, sexual humor in particular is known as “non-veg” humor, contrasted with the “veg” jokes that are more acceptable in polite company.
