Firm faces huge fine for refitting headlights
     2014-October-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A CAR service company in Longhua New Area is facing a fine of 3.59 million yuan (US$584,093) for illegally refitting headlights on 372 vehicles this year.

Shenzhen police have already impounded 13 vehicles refitted by the company and fined the company 130,000 yuan for offering an illegal service.

During an action in September, Shenzhen police caught 13 drivers involved in street racing on a road in Sanzhoutian, Yantian District. An investigation found that a car service company called Qi’antouming had been involved in illegally refitting some of the cars’ headlights. Qi’antouming, which registered as a business in 2012, was not authorized to perform car maintenance, yet the company had posted advertisements online about their headlight-refitting services.

According to Shenzhen traffic police, the company also offered technical support and spare parts to its franchise shops in Guangxi and Jiangsu and in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, charging 98,000 yuan a year in franchise fees. It also organized training classes for car racing fans and maintenance shops interested in performing vehicle modifications, charging 28,800 yuan per session.

Shenzhen’s transportation commission also fined the company 30,000 yuan for unlicensed operations. (Han Ximin)
