Western musical singers Lisa Vroman, Brad Little and Doug Labrecque will collaborate for a concert featuring songs from classic musicals Saturday at the Shenzhen Concert Hall.
They will sing songs from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables,” “The Sound of Music,” “Evita,” “Cats,” “Kiss Me, Kate,” “Jekyll and Hyde” and “West Side Story.”
Vroman is an American lyric soprano and stage actress. She made her debut on Broadway in 1990 in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Aspects of Love,” yet she is most well known for playing the role of Christine in “The Phantom of the Opera” for two years in New York and five years in San Francisco. She also appeared in a concert version of “Sweeney Todd” (as Johanna) in San Francisco.
Little is an American musical theater actor who has appeared in a number of Broadway and touring productions. In 1994, Little joined the cast of “The Phantom of the Opera” as Raoul. In 1996, he joined the musical’s national tour as the title role of the Phantom. He is one of the only four men who have played the role of the Phantom in over 2,000 performances.
In 2009, he toured with “Jekyll and Hyde” in which he played the title role. In 2010, he originated the role of Colonel Grayson in Frank Wildhorn’s musical “Tears of Heaven,” which had its world premiere in South Korea. In 2012, he was the understudy for Ricky Martin as Colonel Peron in the acclaimed Broadway revival production of “Evita.”
In Europe, he is known for starring as Jesus in “Jesus Christ Superstar” and as Tony in “West Side Story.” Other musicals he has starred in include “Les Miserables” (Javert), “The Scarlet Pimpernel” (Pharmacy), “Beauty and the Beast” (The Beast), “Evita” (Che), “Kiss Me, Kate” (Fed/Petruchio), “South Pacific” (Lt. Cable) and “The Who’s Tommy” (Capt. Walker).
LaBrecque also played the Phantom and Raoul in the Harold Prince production of “The Phantom of the Opera.” A graduate of the University of Michigan, he was also featured in the world premiere of “A Wonderful Life,” written by Sheldon Harnick and Joe Raposo, and starred in the premiere revival of Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner’s “Love Life.”
