CHINA Central Television (CCTV) has officially announced Ha Wen as the director of its Spring Festival Gala next year.

    She also directed two other such events in previous years.

    CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala, referred as “Chun Wan” in Chinese, is a variety show that has aired on Chinese New Year’s Eve every year since 1983.

    The television event has since become one of the most important activities for the holiday.

    The gala is widely considered the most watched TV show in the world. Statistics show that it attracted 800 million viewers in its latest edition.
