TAYLOR SWIFT’S newest album, “1989,” has made a lot of money for her record label Big Machine. However, the label’s owner, Scott Borchetta, is looking to sell. Big Machine is also home to country stars Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts.

    The New York Post reported that the label, which was formed by Borchetta in 2005, is up on the sales block. Sources have said that Borchetta is looking for a price exceeding US$200 million — not too shabby for a label that’s less than 10 years old. But such an impressive price is dependent on whether or not the label’s biggest star at the moment, Taylor Swift, will also be included in the deal.

    Swift only has one more album left on her contract. Her family also owns a pretty large piece of the record label. Billboard is also reporting that Swift has a greatest hits package listed in her contract and an obligation to record new material for Big Machine.

    Without Swift, Big Machine could be worth a lot less than the over US$200 million price-point Borchetta is looking for. Since Swift has turned towards pop music, straying from the country feel she had when she first entered into the music industry, there is a possibility that the “Shake It Off” singer may not stay with Big Machine.
