FAMED Chinese actress Gong Li has joined the cast of the upcoming sequel to 2014’s Lunar New Year hit fantasy film, “The Monkey King.”

    Gong revealed that she will be playing Baigujing, or the White Bone Demon — a shape-shifting villainess that is eager to devour the flesh of the story’s central character, Buddhist monk Xuanzang.

    As “The Monkey King 2” will be her first 3-D action film, Gong said that she is “full of curiosity” about the production process and hoped she would be able to do the role of the White Bone Demon justice.

    With the announcement, Gong joined Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok, who is taking up the mantle of the Monkey King for the sequel in the absence of Donnie Yen, who filled the role in the first film.(SD-Agencies)
